Short Term Trading - Ambitions of Short Term Prosperity

By: Erick Feskey

Short term trading can be highly remunerative, or it can break your very heart. You must understand the market pretty well first and foremost, but you also must acknowledge a few matters about the individual conduct of the stock that you want to deal with. Some stocks are pretty well suited to short term trading, while others merely are not a great pick. Recognizing the manner that a stock has been behaving between trading sessions is one of the main keys to short term trading success, but there are other factors to consider also.

Short term trading will center on these components, as well as if the long-term trend of that specific stock is up or down. You also need to factor in whether or not the stock market is making important movements in either way (up or down) or if it is standing (volatility). Are there many buyers or sellers for this stock (volume)? And is the stock market finishing with the highs and lows at more extreme levels, meaning, higher highs or lower lows (trend)?

Of course if you are preparing for a short term trading, you must have a clear conceptual plan in place aheaf of your departure. How you approach your entrance in and out of these trades can be decisive. There are five main trading approach patterns that can be used for short term trading, and one main idea that applies equally to all five. It doesn't matter how you prefer to handle your short term trading, you must have self control. If you do not have control, then you should not be trading stocks until you master the concept. In life, there are many things that require such self-control, from controling what you eat to smoking or any other bad abuse, but this can be even as much of a health danger. Your fiscal welfare is at risk, so do not put any of your short term trading plans into action until you have mastered the art of self control.

Short term dealers can use: trend trading, counter-trend trading, breakout trading, pullback trading and reversal trading, although this latter definition is not so much a type of trading as it an broad part of the full picture in a short term trading scheme. Trend trading has the least in common with short term trading, and involves some special patience that may not really be available to the short-term traders.
