Living Green

By: Mark Lucasa

Living green is not only good for the environment; it is beneficial for us as well. This is because the presence of pollution that greatly affects our life span. We will also be able to cut down on expenses that would otherwise bog us down every single day of our life. the green real estate program has been proven to be a great way of conserving our natural resources.

The priority areas of the program are to promote the use of materials that will not pose a threat to the environment. The bases of these products are mostly obtained from plant materials that are able to be replenished within a very short period of time. They also have to be strong enough to be utilized in the construction of a building or a house structure. Choice of energy sources that fuel a home is also their concern. It tries to discover methods by which an adequate and reliable source of power can be generated; without depleting the natural resources. So far, the consensus seems to be with solar energy.

Electricity is primarily used for heating. It has been noted that large older buildings account for the biggest energy consumption. Therefore, if these structures could be adequately insulated, the need for electricity would automatically be reduced. In this situation, by also adding the installation of a solar power system, the call for electricity would almost be eliminated. This means that the need to generate a tremendous amount of electricity would also be reduced. Going green will also reduce any future expenditure for lighting, heating, and the operating of any of the other appliances that the average homeowner has in their home; solar energy is almost free of charge.
